LAHORE: The Punjab School Education Department has launched a major crackdown against surplus and under-performing teachers over poor school results.
The department taking serious notice of poor matriculation results in schools headed by merit-appointed head teachers has demanded immediate details from all district CEOs and District Education Officers (DEOs).
The directive states that performance reports of head teachers and teachers with poor matric results must be submitted by 4:00 pm on September 20 via email.
For head teachers, overall school results must be shared, while for subject teachers, subject-wise results are required.
The School Education Department has made it clear that strict action against underperforming and surplus staff is unavoidable in order to improve the quality of education.
SURPLUS TEACHERS
Meanwhile according to the department, despite repeated instructions, surplus teachers did not submit applications for further postings or adjustments. As a result, disciplinary action has been ordered under the PEDA Act 2006. All district Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) have been directed to submit a detailed report by September 22.
SECOND ANNUAL INTER EXAMS
Separately, the Lahore Board has announced that the second annual Intermediate examinations will begin on October 29. Students can submit forms with single fees by September 30, with double fees by October 7, and with triple fees by October 13. No admissions will be accepted after the deadline, officials warned.
