Punjab IGP settles all police welfare cases before Eid; PIC employees still not paid

LAHORE: Punjab Inspector General of Police (IGP) Usman Anwar has settled all welfare cases before Eidul Azha.
IGP Anwar signed off on release of Rs78.1 million, from welfare funds for police employees and families of martyrs, Punjab Police spokesperson told media on Friday.
Out of these Rs45.4 million were released to 1,134 employees and families of martyrs, the spokesperson said, adding that Rs71.77 million have also been released for treatment of children of police employees suffering from various diseases.
PIC EMPLOYEES PROTEST
Meanwhile, the sanitary workers of the Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC) are still not paid salaries. The employees have reportedly not received salaries for the past three months.
Today, the PIC employees came out to protest in full force over non-payment of salary.
The protest, being also carried out in hospital’s emergency wing is also causing difficulties for patients.
