Punjab police gets Rs1.19 billion for elections 2024 security

LAHORE: Punjab police will receive Rs1.19 billion in funds for ensuring security during the 2024 general elections.
According to the details, over Rs533 million has been allocated for petrol expenses, while Rs150 million has been designated for plant and machinery. Additionally, the provincial police will receive Rs30 million for stationary and Rs133 million for food expenses on election day.
Furthermore, more than Rs110 million will be allocated for the Lahore police, Rs50 million for Faisalabad, and Rs25 million each for Gujranwala and Rawalpindi.
Earlier, the Sindh Police informed the election commission about election security arrangements with expenses exceeding Rs625.4 million. The police have recommended the deployment of 122,000 personnel for ensuring security during the general elections in Sindh.

However, it was noted that the province currently has 105,000 policemen available, which is 17,000 less than the required personnel.
Pakistan is set to hold general elections next month on February 8th to elect representatives for the National Assembly and the legislatures of Sindh, Punjab, Balochistan, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provinces.
