LAHORE: A written examination was recently administered across 26 districts of the province, including Lahore, for recruitment to various positions within the Punjab Police department.
This process saw the participation of thousands of candidates eager to join the force.
According to a spokesperson, a substantial total of 47,000 candidates underwent the written examination, vying for 7,900 positions available for constables, lady constables, driver constables, and traffic assistants.
Breaking down the numbers, it was reported that in the province at large, 36,570 candidates appeared for 6,089 constable/lady constable positions, while 1,163 candidates attended for 190 driver constable positions.
Additionally, 9,290 candidates were present for the 1,630 traffic assistant positions. In Lahore specifically, 5,574 candidates participated in the examination for 2,951 vacant positions.
Further details revealed that within Lahore, 4,075 candidates contended for 2,586 constable positions, with 109 candidates applying for 50 driver constable positions, and 1,390 candidates seeking 315 traffic assistant positions during the written exam.
The spokesperson disclosed ongoing recruitment efforts across various districts, including 491 seats in Gujranwala, 460 in Gujrat, 441 in Faisalabad, 367 in Rawalpindi, 337 in Sargodha, 231 in DG Khan, 255 in Bahawalpur, 240 in Mandi Bahauddin, and 224 in Muzaffargarh.
