Punjab raises vehicle, bike transfer fees by 10 per cent

LAHORE: The Punjab government has increased vehicle and motorcycle ownership transfer fees by 10 per cent to enhance revenue collection through the Excise Department.
According to a new notification, the motorcycle transfer fee has gone up by Rs55 from Rs550 to Rs605 affecting all individuals buying or selling two-wheelers.
For cars with engine capacities between 650cc and 1000cc, the fee has risen by Rs275, now set at Rs3,025. Vehicles between 1000cc and 1800cc will see a Rs550 hike, bringing the total to Rs6,050. These segments represent a significant portion of daily transfers in Punjab.

Cars above 1800 cc will now incur the highest increase of Rs 1,100, raising the flat fee to Rs 12,100. Heavy Transport Vehicles (HTVs) also face a Rs550 jump, with the new rate fixed at Rs 6,050.
The increase is expected to impact luxury vehicle owners the most.
The Excise and Taxation Department has begun enforcing the new rates with immediate effect. Citizens have been advised to confirm updated fees before visiting e-facilitation centres for vehicle transfers.
