Punjab ramps up Eid security with drones, night vision binoculars

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has issued orders for foolproof security arrangements on Chaand raat and Eid-ul-Fitr.
CM Maryam has also issued directives to increase patrols of women police squad in markets on the eve of Eid, and has ordered to ensure safety of women and children in markets at all costs.

Additional personnel have deployed at 65 commercial centers of Lahore on the instructions of the chief minister. Moreover, drone cameras and night vision binoculars have been introduced for surveillance in markets.
Police have already been deployed at 55 locations to prevent one-wheeling on roads. Police personnel are also deployed at 225 locations around ATMs and banks to ensure safety of the citizens.
CM Maryam Nawaz has issued directions to closely monitor movement of anti-social elements in markets on Eid as well.
WOMEN POLICE SQUAD LAUNCHED FOR EID SHOPPERS
Last week, the Punjab government launched a women police squad, especially for Eid festivities, to ensure protection against harassment and criminal activities.
The squad has already started patrolling markets and commercial areas across the province. Squad personnel include foot, bicycle, and motorcycle patrol teams that will monitor streets and marketplaces to prevent harassment incidents.

The initiative is aimed at enhancing security for women shoppers in busy commercial areas and marketplaces across the province.
This special squad is now operational in Lahore, Rawalpindi, Sialkot, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, and Chiniot. Patrolling has also begun in major business hubs of Burewala, Vehari, Khanewal, and other cities.
