Punjab to replace traditional board exams with assessment tests


BOARD EXAMS TO BE REPLACED WITH ASSESSMENT TESTS

LAHORE:  The Punjab School Education Department has announced that students will now undergo assessment tests instead of traditional board exams.

Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat said the move aims to improve results in classes 9 and 10. He added that the assessment system will help enhance learning abilities from an early stage.

According to the department, the class 8 assessment test will be conducted under the Punjab Examination Commission for Test and Assessment (PECTA). The exam procedure will be finalised within 20 days.

In the first phase, the assessment test will be held only in government schools, while private institutions will have the option to choose board exams.

The annual board exams will still be conducted next year in February or March.

PRIVATE SCHOOLS BOUND TO COMPLY WITH HOLIDAYS EXTENSION

Meanwhile, Rana Sikandar clarified that the recent notification regarding school holidays applies to private institutions as well. He warned that no educational institute should reopen before 1st September. Any violations should be reported via the Education Helpline 0316-0261408.

He said there will be zero tolerance against institutions flouting the orders.
