Rahim Yar Khan: Slain officers’ funeral prayers to be held after Friday prayers

RAHIM YAR KHAN: The funeral for the eleven officers martyred in Thursday’s ambush in Rahim Yar Khan will be held after Friday prayers at Sadiq Shaheed Police Lines.
Prior to the funeral, the bodies will be transported to Tehsil Headquarter Hospital in Sadiqabad.
The attack occured in Kacha, Rahim Yar Khan, when criminals fired rocket launchers at police forces. The attack resulted in the deaths of eleven officers and left nine others wounded.

Police officials reported that several members of the police convoy are also unaccounted for. The injured and deceased officers were taken to Sheikh Zayed Hospital for medical treatment and to complete legal procedures.
Authorities indicated that the robbers targeted police vehicles with rocket fire, which led to the police vehicles becoming trapped in standing rainwater.
Reports indicate that the Additional Inspector General (AIG) of South Punjab and the Regional Police Officer (RPO) of Bahawalpur arrived in the affected area during the early hours of Friday to oversee the response and manage the situation.
Meanwhile, the district police officer (DPO) is currently stationed at the local police camp.
The Sindh Governor strongly condemned the attack and offered condolences to the families of the slain officers.

He commended the rescuers and said that stringent action would be taken against the attackers, supporting the Prime Minister’s recent commitment to address the situation.
AIG South Punjab confirmed the deaths and injuries, stating that the police will not be deterred by such attacks.
He assured that a comprehensive operation against the bandits was underway.
