LAHORE: After last night’s rain, many parts of Lahore are still without electricity even after more than 12 hours, despite repeated assurances by the Lahore Electricity Supply Company (LESCO).
Harbanspura, Jallo, Johar Town, Nawab Town, Garhi Shahu, Singhpura, and Wasanpura remain without power.
Residents complain that this happens every time it rains, but authorities fail to find a permanent solution.
WAPDA and LESCO officials say repair teams are working to restore supply, but full restoration may take more time.
People are facing serious trouble due to heat and darkness, and complaints have flooded social media.
After Islamabad, windstorm knocks out power in Lahore
On Thursday night heavy rain and strong winds swept through the provincial capital, causing widespread power outages, toppling trees.
According to Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO), more than 207 feeders tripped due to the storm, plunging several neighbourhoods into darkness. Areas affected included Sadar, Cantt, Rizwan Garden, Dharampura, Gulberg, Samanabad, Ichhra, Muslim Town and Garden Town.
LESCO officials stated that restoration efforts would begin as soon as the rain subsides.
The storm also caused a tree to fall on College Road while heavy rainfall was reported in Mason Road, Gaddafi Stadium and surrounding areas.
The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has forecast the current spell of rain and dust storms to continue across Punjab until May 4.
Authorities have urged citizens to remain cautious and avoid unnecessary travel during turbulent weather conditions.
