Rain and hailstorm hit various areas of Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: Several sectors of Islamabad experienced rainfall and hailstorms on Wednesday, bringing relief from the heat but also causing damage in some areas.

Heavy hailstorms were reported in Sector E-11, F-6, F-8, G-8, I-9 and other areas with the downpour accompanied by strong winds that significantly cooled temperatures across Islamabad and Rawalpindi. The intense hailstorm caused damage to vehicles and property, smashing car windows and damaging house windows in some locations.

“My windshield broke due to the hailstorm, and this has been a very severe storm as compared to previous instances, the size of the hailstone was as big as a gold ball,” said one of the residents. Others complained that their skylight had also been broken.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department had predicted rain spells for the twin cities this week. Similar weather patterns are expected to continue in the coming days.
