Rain brings the chill back in Peshawar

PESHAWAR: Early morning thunderstorms and heavy rain lashed Peshawar and its surrounding areas, bringing chilly weather in the provincial capital.

The downpour began at 6:30 AM, accompanied by thunder and lightning, and continued for an hour, leaving roads submerged in several areas of the city.

Meanwhile, rain has been ongoing in Dir and Chitral for the past two days. Chitral also witnessed snowfall overnight, bringing back the winter chill.

With the return of cold weather, residents in Chitral, Dir, Swat, and other mountainous areas have once again started wearing warm clothes.

Clouds continue to dominate Peshawar’s sky, and the city experienced light showers and strong winds yesterday as well.

PMD PREDICTS INTERMITTENT RAIN

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted intermittent rain, windstorms, and thunderstorms in various parts of the country on Wednesday.

Snowfall is expected in high-altitude areas, while widespread showers are likely in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Kashmir. Rain is also forecast for upper Punjab, Islamabad, and northeastern Balochistan.

Heavy rainfall and hailstorms are expected in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Kashmir.

Authorities have warned that strong winds and thunderstorms could pose a risk to infrastructure, potentially damaging electric poles, trees, vehicles, and solar panels.
