Rain clears up Islamabad’s smoggy skies


Islamabad clear skies

ISLAMABAD: Residents of Islamabad breathed clean, fresh air on Saturday morning as the last night’s rain cleared up the persistent smog that had been blanketing the city for days.

The downpour significantly improved air quality which had climbed to dangerous levels of above 200.

The rain in Islamabad provided much-needed respite to residents struggling with health issues caused by the hazardous conditions due to smog.

The rain not only cleared up the skies but also dropped temperatures, adding a touch of winter chill to the air.

Meanwhile, according to the Met Office, more rain and snowfall is predicted in the upper regions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir during the next 12 hours.

While other parts of the country will experience dry and cold weather.

Dry weather is expected in other parts of the country.

Temperatures of major cities recorded this morning:

Islamabad and Peshawar 13 degrees centigrade, Lahore 17, Karachi 22, Quetta six, Gilgit 11, Murree seven and Muzaffarabad 12 degrees centigrade.
