Rain expected in upper parts of the country

ISLAMABAD: Rain-windstorm/thundershower is expected in upper parts of the country while the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has also issued an alert to departments concerned for potential flooding in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Azad Kashmir.

According to the Met Office rain is expected in upper parts of the country including Islamabad, Pothohar region, Kashmir, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, northeast/south Balochistan and southeast Sindh during the next twelve hours.

The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has also issued an alert to departments concerned for potential flooding in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Azad Kashmir, along with storms and rain expected in southern Sindh areas.

The warning comes as monsoon rains from the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal are predicted to impact various parts of the country.

According to the National Emergency Operation Center of NDMA, monsoon rains have begun to enter the upper regions of Pakistan. These rains are expected to start affecting different areas within the next 24 hours and are likely to continue until July 27.

Sindh extends summer holidays for all educational institutions

The NDMA has warned of potential flooding in various urban areas due to the heavy rains. Additionally, river flooding is a significant concern, and there is a high risk of landslides in the hilly regions.

The NDMA has urged all departments concerned to take necessary precautionary measures to mitigate the risks associated with the expected weather conditions.

Temperatures of major cities recorded this morning:

Islamabad and Quetta twenty-five degrees centigrade, Lahore twenty-nine, Karachi thirty-one, Peshawar twenty-seven, Gilgit twenty-two, Murree eighteen and Muzaffarabad twenty-four degrees centigrade.
