PDMA ISSUES FLOOD ALERT FOR PUNJAB, KP

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued an alert for Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) due to the forecast of heavy rains and the potential risk of flooding in rivers.

According to PDMA, monsoon rains are expected to hit most areas of Punjab from today until July 15.

To tackle the risk of urban flooding, authorities in major cities like Lahore will be on high alert. Rescue teams and civil defense personnel are also being readied for any potential emergencies.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, torrential rains are anticipated in 24 districts from today through Monday. The situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa appears even more critical. The PDMA has designated 11 districts as “high risk” areas due to the anticipated torrential rains.

These areas face the dual threat of flash floods caused by heavy rainfall and glacial bursts in the mountainous regions.

Authorities urge residents in affected areas to stay informed and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety during this period of severe weather.

TEMPERATURES OF MAJOR CITIES RECORDED THIS MORNING:

Islamabad, Karachi and Peshawar twenty-nine degrees centigrade, Lahore twenty-eight, Quetta twenty-six, Gilgit nineteen, Murree fifteen, and Muzaffarabad twenty-four degrees centigrade.
