Rawalpindi areas experience power outages amid ongoing rainfall

RAWALPINDI: Water has accumulated in low-lying areas following recent heavy rains. Several areas are facing power outages due to the adverse weather conditions. The Managing Director of WASA has declared a rain emergency in Rawalpindi.

The area recorded 95 millimetres of rainfall in Bokra and 107 millimetres in the Kachehri region. Staff and machinery have been deployed to address water accumulation, with particular attention given to monitoring Nullah Lai due to concerns over rising water levels, warns Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA) Managing Director Muhammad Saleem Ashraf.

Situation in Islamabad

Heavy rain has affected various parts of the city, with significant water accumulation reported on roads, particularly in Sector F-11 and F-10. The Islamabad administration, along with teams from the Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI) and the Capital Development Authority (CDA), are actively engaged in drainage operations.

Assistant Commissioners are overseeing low-lying areas and drainage systems to mitigate the impact of the rain.

Rain forecast for other cities

The Meteorological Department has forecasted rain across multiple regions. Mandi Bahauddin, Sialkot, Narowal, and Gujrat are expected to experience rainfall. Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Okara, and Kasur are also likely to see rain.

Rain is anticipated in Khushab, Faisalabad, Sargodha, Mianwali, Bahawalpur, Multan, Khanewal, Sahiwal, and Dera Ghazi Khan.

Additionally, Bahawalnagar, Bhakkar, Layyah, Rajanpur, and Rahim Yar Khan may witness rainfall. Umar Kot, Sanghar, Khairpur, Kashmore, Sukkur, and Ghotki could also experience rain. Mithi and Tharparkar may see some rainfall as well.

In northern regions, rain is expected in Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Shangla, Battagram, and Mansehra. Abbottabad, Haripur, Buner, Swabi, Nowshera, and Mardan are likely to experience rain, with heavy rain possible in Mardan, Swabi, Kohat, and Karak.

Gilgit-Baltistan is anticipated to see thunderstorms and rain in some locations. Azad Kashmir could face rain accompanied by strong winds and thunderstorms.
