Rain, snowfall predicted in upper parts of country from tomorrow

ISLAMABAD: Rain and heavy snowfall are predicted in the upper parts of the country starting tomorrow, as a frontal weather system is expected to enter eastern regions tonight, according to the Met Office.

Under the influence of this system, Murree and Galliyat are likely to experience rain, wind, thunderstorms, and heavy snowfall from January 2 to January 6.

Similar weather conditions are forecast for Islamabad, the Potohar region, and districts including Sargodha, Mianwali, Bhakkar, Khushab, Gujranwala, Lahore, Faisalabad, and Sialkot. This pattern will persist from the evening or night of January 2 until the morning of January 6.

In areas such as Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan, Taunsa Sharif, Sahiwal, and Bahawalnagar, light rain and thunderstorms are expected from the night of January 2 to January 5, with occasional breaks.

In Gilgit-Baltistan, heavy snowfall and thunderstorms are expected in regions like Diamer, Skardu, Hunza, and Astore. Kashmir, including Neelum Valley, Muzaffarabad, Bagh, and Kotli, will experience similar weather conditions from tonight until January 6, with some intervals.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, districts such as Chitral, Swat, Mansehra, Kohistan, and Abbottabad will face rain, winds, and heavy snowfall over hilly areas from tonight until January 5, with occasional gaps.

Most parts of Sindh are expected to remain cold and dry, although light rain and thunderstorms may occur in Dadu, Sukkur, Jacobabad, and nearby areas on January 3 and 4.

The Met Office has warned tourists of heavy snowfall leading to road closures and slippery conditions in Murree, Galiyat, Naran, Kaghan, Hunza, Skardu, and other hilly regions from January 2 to January 6.

Travelers are advised to remain cautious as the weather may disrupt mobility.
