Rain, snowfall predicted in various parts of Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast moderate rainfall, strong winds, and snowfall in various parts of the country as a westerly weather system enters Pakistan starting tonight.
The system is expected to affect northwest Balochistan and northern regions, with significant rainfall and snowfall in hilly areas between January 18 and 21.
RAIN AND SNOWFALL IN BALOCHISTAN
Moderate rain and windstorms are expected in Quetta, Ziarat, Chaman, Pishin, Qilla Abdullah, Qilla Saifullah, Chagai, Nushki, Kalat, Khuzdar, Barkhan, Harnai, Zhob, Musakhel, Kharan, Kech, Panjgur, and Gwadar from January 18 to 20.
Mountainous areas may experience snowfall during this period. Flash floods could affect Chagai, Nushki, Kharan, Pishin, and Quetta on the night of January 18 and the morning of January 19.
SNOWFALL IN UPPER KP
From January 18 to 21, moderate to heavy rainfall and snowfall are likely in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Kohistan, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Buner, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Orakzai, Kurram, Waziristan, Peshawar, Charsadda, Nowshera, Swabi, Karak, and Kohat. In hilly areas, road closures and slippery conditions are expected.
ISLAMABAD, PUNJAB
Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Attock, Jhelum, and Chakwal may receive light rain on January 18 and 19.
Moderate to dense fog in patches is likely to persist in most districts of Punjab, upper Sindh and plain areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during morning/night hours.
Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, Murree, Galliyat, and Neelum Valley could face heavy snowfall, increasing the risk of avalanches and landslides.
The PMD has advised travelers and tourists to remain cautious in hilly areas, where snow may disrupt roads and traffic.
