Rain starts in various parts of country, including Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: Rain has started in various parts of the country including Islamabad bringing the temperatures down considerably.

The current rain spell is expected to last till March 2, according to the Met Office.

Light rain has started in various sectors of Islamabad, bringing a pleasant change in weather.

Rainfall has also started in various cities of Punjab including Talagang, Sargodha, Sheikhupura, Nankana Sahib, Patoki, Bhera, Hafizabad and other surrounding areas.

Heavy rainfall has also lashed various areas of Balochistan including Quetta, damaging the communication system.

Since last night, Kohat has received rainfall, while other parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are also experiencing showers, making the weather pleasant.

Widespread rain, heavy snow feared as strong weather system hits Pakistan

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), rainfall in KP is likely to continue for the next 24 hours.

In Kurram, heavy rainfall is ongoing, while snowfall in upper areas has intensified the cold.

Karak is witnessing intermittent rain, further dropping the temperature. The continuous downpour has raised concerns about possible landslides in hilly regions.

The PMD predicts rain in Karak may persist for another 24 hours.

NEOC WARNING

The National Emergencies Operation Centre (NEOC) has issued a weather advisory, warning of severe conditions due to the ongoing weather system. These include heavy rain, strong winds, thunderstorms, hailstorms, and significant snowfall in northern and western parts of the country.

According to the advisory, several regions are expected to be affected. Islamabad, upper Punjab, the Pothohar Region, and central, southern, and northeastern Punjab may witness rain, wind, and thunderstorms, with chances of snowfall or hailstorms.

The NEOC has also cautioned about the risk of flash floods in vulnerable areas due to heavy rainfall.
