Rain turns weather pleasant in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: The federal capital experienced a refreshing spell of rain on Saturday, turning the weather pleasant and offering relief from the recent hot and humid conditions.

The downpour, which began in the wee hours of the night, continued till the sun rise, bringing the temperatures down considerably.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) had predicted light to moderate rain in Islamabad and surrounding areas in the next 12 hours.

Rain-windstorm/thundershower is expected in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Islamabad, Pothohar region, Northeast/upper Punjab and Kashmir during the next twelve hours.

However, partly cloudy weather with rain-windstorm and thundershower may also occur at isolated places in lower Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, north Balochistan and Gilgit Baltistan.

Hot and dry weather is expected in other parts of the country.

TEMPERATURES OF MAJOR CITIES RECORDED THIS MORNING:

Islamabad and Muzaffarabad twenty-two degrees centigrade, Lahore twenty-five, Karachi twenty-seven, Peshawar twenty-three, Quetta fourteen, Gilgit nineteen and Murree fifteen degrees centigrade.
