LAHORE: Ongoing rainfall in various parts of Punjab has prompted an active response from traffic and municipal authorities to manage the situation on the ground.
According to directives issued by the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Traffic Punjab Muhammad Waqas Nazir, all Chief Traffic Officers (CTOs) and District Traffic Officers (DTOs) have been instructed to ensure uninterrupted flow of traffic during the rains.
The DIG has also directed that both supervisory and field staff should work in coordination to assist citizens, with instructions to remain in the field and assist motorists, including those experiencing vehicle breakdowns. The traffic officers are told to keep the vehicle lifters with them on the roads for quick assistance.

Punjab Housing Minister Bilal Yasin conducted early morning inspections in various parts of inner Lahore, including Mall Road, Lakshmi Chowk, Mayo Hospital, Shah Alam, Bhati Gate, and Minar-e-Pakistan. He reviewed drainage operations and discussed challenges with field officers on site.
The minister acknowledged the operational work carried out by WASA staff and noted that, following instructions from Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, drainage efforts in low-lying areas were being prioritised. He said that most highways and underpasses in the city had been cleared of rainwater.
