Raiwand factory fire rages on after 11 hours

LAHORE: A massive fire that broke out at a factory in Lahore’s industrial area, Sundar Estate Raiwand, has still not been fully extinguished after more than 11 hours.

According to rescue sources, the fire has engulfed nearly four kanals of the factory premises.

Rescue officials said that they have managed to control the fire in one section of the building, but flames continue to rage in other parts and may take more time to extinguish completely.

Ten fire vehicles from Rescue 1122 are actively engaged in the firefighting operation.

Authorities confirmed that the fire had posed a serious threat to nearby factories, but timely efforts successfully protected adjacent units from catching fire.

The cause of the Raiwand factory fire is still unknown, and no casualties have been reported so far. Rescue teams remain on high alert and continue efforts to bring the situation under control.

Managed by the Punjab Industrial Estates Development and Management Company, the Sundar Industrial Estate comprises of 1,750 acres of land.

It has 702 industrial land plots spread over an area measuring 1,179 acres

These 702 industrial plots include: 396 one-acre plots, 112 half acre plots, 101 two-acre plots, 37 three-acre plots, 14 four-acre plots, 34 five-acre plots and 22 plots measuring over five acres.
