Ramazan begins with cloudy skies, rainy weather on Sunday

WEB DESK: Sunday marks the beginning of Ramazan for Pakistan, and according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), the country is expected to remain cold for the most part.

On Sunday, partly cloudy weather is expected in upper and central Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and North-West Balochistan, with gusty winds in Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir. Mountains are expected to get thundershowers with snowfall also predicted at some areas in the mountains. Overall, the first of Ramazan will be cold and dry in most parts of the country.

Going region by region, the PMD predicts that Sunday in Islamabad and its surrounding areas will be dry during the day. However, partly cloudy skies with gusty winds and thundershowers are predicted for the evening and night.

Likewise, in Punjab, cold weather is expected in most districts of the province. The weather in Murree, Galiyat and surrounding areas is expected to remain cold and partly cloudy, with strong winds and thundershowers expected during the night. However, light rain with strong winds and thundershowers is also expected in Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Hafizabad, Faisalabad, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Sahiwal, Sargodha, Khushab, Mianwali, Bhakkar, Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan, Layyah, Rajanpur, Rahim Yar Khan and Kot Addu in the evening and night.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the weather will be cold and partly cloudy in most districts of the province. In the afternoon, it will be partly cloudy in Peshawar, Charsadda, Mardan, Swabi, Chitral, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Malakand, Kohistan, Mansehra, Battagram, Abbottabad, Haripur, Buner, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Orakzai, Kurram, Waziristan, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, DI Khan, Nowshera, Karak, Hangu and Kohat.

While Sindh and Balochistan are both expected to get dry weather in most districts, for Balochistan rain with strong winds and thunderstorms is also predicted. Some areas of the province might also get snowfall in in Quetta, Ziarat, Chaman, Mastung, Pishin, Qila Abdullah, Qila Saifullah, Chaghi, Noshki, Kharan, Kalat, Barkhan, Khuzdar, Harnai, Zhob and Sherani.

In Kashmir, in addition to cold and partly cloudy weather, rain and snowfall are expected in the evening and night. Likewise, Gilgit-Baltistan is also predicted to receive cold and partly cloudy weather with rain and snowfall expected in the evening and night hours.
