Utility Stores

WEB DESK: Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif embarked on an unannounced visit to several Utility Stores in Islamabad on Wednesday.

The purpose behind his visit was to personally assess the distribution process of the Prime Minister’s Ramazan Relief Package.

According to Radio Pakistan, during the visit, the Prime Minister stressed the importance of ensuring a smooth and hassle-free experience for those availing themselves of the Ramazan package.

He issued clear directives to the relevant authorities to streamline the process and alleviate any potential difficulties faced by the beneficiaries.

Previously, Prime Minister Shehbaz had bolstered the allocation for the ‘Ramazan Relief Package’ from Rs7.5 billion to Rs12.5 billion, with the aim of offering relief to individuals grappling with inflationary pressures during the sacred month.

Additionally, he instructed authorities to expand the reach of the relief initiative, as confirmed by the PM Office.

Furthermore, apart from the utility stores and the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP), mobile units have been mobilized to dispense essential food items at subsidized rates as part of this package.

The Prime Minister underscored the importance of reaching out to as many underprivileged individuals as possible, directing the swift delivery of food packages to those in need.

To facilitate the distribution process, an initial rollout plan includes the establishment of 1200 mobile points and 300 permanent relief centers across the country.

Meanwhile, in Punjab, significant progress has been made under the Chief Minister’s Ramazan Nigehban Relief Package 2024.

Out of a total of 6.47 million beneficiaries, over one million families have already received aid packages, highlighting the tangible impact of such initiatives in addressing socio-economic challenges during the holy month.
