ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad district administration has announced to open the spillways of Rawal Dam at 6 am tomorrow (Monday) after the water level of the reservoir touched 1,752 feet as the Met Office has forecast rains from September 25.

The district administration said that precautionary measures are already in place, with the district administration advising residents of low-lying areas to avoid urban watercourses and ensure compliance with safety guidelines.

In case of an emergency, residents have been urged to contact the helpline at 16 immediately.

The district administration has asked the residents of low-lying areas to relocate livestock to safe areas.

According to the district administration, all emergency measures have been put in place to deal with potential flood situations. Strict monitoring of rivers, streams, and bridges will continue to ensure public safety.

. It said that emergency preparations to manage any potential flood situation were fully complete.

Earlier on September 7, the spillways of Rawal Dam were opened after the water level in the dam reached its dead level.
