Rawalpindi: Investigation launched into murder of orphan girl

RAWALPINDI: A 22-year-old orphan girl named Saadia has become the centre of a disturbing investigation following her tragic death in Rawalpindi, which has been linked to allegations of rape and murder.
Medical reports confirm that the victim was eight months pregnant at the time of her death.

According to reports, Saadia was allegedly raped by her brothers-in-law, Gulfraz and Amin, in the Natha Chhatari area of Jatli police station.
After the assault, it is claimed that family members administered a lethal mixture of poisonous pills and water to Saadia, leading to her death.
Saadia was buried without undergoing a medical examination, but the case gained significant media attention on social media. This led to a huge public outcry, and forced the authorities to exhume her body for further examination.
The mother of one of the accused, Gulzar Begum, reportedly confessed to havng poisoned Saadia.
The police have registered a case against Gulfraz, Amin and Gulzar Begum, charging them with murder, rape and concealing evidence.
The investigation is ongoing, with the accused currently in custody.
Authorities stated they were working to gather more evidence and ensure that justice was served.
Brother arrested for sister’s murder in Rawalpindi
In a separate harrowing incident of gender-based violence, a brother was arrested for the murder of his sister in Rawalpindi. The accused, identified as Waqas, allegedly shot and killed his sister after she expressed her desire to marry someone of her choice, which reportedly angered him.
The police quickly took action, arresting Waqas and recovering the weapon used in the murder case. According to police reports, Waqas shot his sister a few days prior to his arrest.
The murder has raised concerns about ‘honour’ killing and gender-based violence rife in the country.
Senior police officials, including SP President Muhammad Nabil Khokhar, took notice of the incident and ordered ‘immediate’ arrest of the accused.

The SP President stated that the accused would be ‘challan’-ed in court with solid evidence and that efforts were underway to ensure a severe penalty for those involved in such a serious crime.
