HOW TO KEEP KIDS SAFE AROUND PARKED CARS
Kids can sometimes slip into cars without adults noticing, maybe they see a toy inside, want to play hide-and-seek, or pretend to drive. To keep them safe:
- Never leave children alone in or near a parked car, even for a few seconds.
- Always lock your car and keep the keys where kids can’t reach. Ask guests to do the same.
- Don’t let kids play with car keys or key fobs.
- Teach kids that a car isn’t a playground. They should never go inside without an adult. If they need something from the car, they must ask for help first. Older kids can be taught to honk the horn if they ever get stuck.
