SIALKOT: Former Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Usman Dar’s mother, Rehana Dar, has been cleared to contest in the upcoming general elections to be held in February 2024.
Earlier Rehana Dar’s submitted her nomination papers from National Assembly Sialkot’s constituency, NA-71, which were rejected.
The papers were rejected by the returning officer (RO) over non-payment of social security dues and non-disclosure of assets.
On Tuesday, the appellate tribunal Lahore High Court rejected the objections of the RO and cleared her nomination papers to run from NA-71 Sialkot constituency.

It is to be noted here Rehana Dar had announced that she would contest the election against Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Khawaja Asif.
It is worth mentioning here that the NA-73 constituency in 2018 has now been declared as NA-71. The provincial constituencies that were earlier PP37 and PP38 have now been changed to PP46 and PP47. It is an urban area of Sialkot.
In 2018, Khawaja Asif bagged 117,000 votes and defeated Usman Dar who got 115,000 votes.
In the 2024 election too, Khawaja Asif will contest the election as a PML-N candidate.
A few days back, PTI ex-leader Usman Dar’s mother said that Sialkot police had raided her house and manhandled her at the behest of PML-N leader Khawaja Asif.
Her ripped collar can be seen in a video released on social media.
In her video statement, Usman Dar’s mother said, “I am seeking justice from Chief Justice of Pakistan (SJP) Justice Qazi Faez Isa. I want justice. I will fight Khawaja Asif even if my house is bulldozed.”
She added, “Send me to jail or handcuff me. I will contest the general elections for sure.”
