Relief expected as new spell of rainfall enters country

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Meteorological Department has announced the arrival of a new spell of rainfall across various parts of the country from tonight, bringing much-needed relief and pleasant weather after a week of intense heat.

Met Office informed that moist currents are continuously penetrating upper and central parts of the country and a westerly wave is also likely to enter upper parts on 24th May.

Under the influence of this weather system, dust storm/rain-thunder (with isolated hailstorm) is expected in Kashmir, Gilgit Baltistan, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree, Galliyat, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mianwali, Hafizabad, Mandi Bahauddin, Sialkot, Narowal, Okara, Lahore, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Sheikhupura, Chitral, Dir, Swat, Malakand, Mansehra, Battagram, Shangla, Kohistan, Abbottabad, Haripur, Peshawar, Mardan, Swabi, Nowshera, Mohmand, Khyber, Orakzai, Kurram, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, Kohat, Karak and Waziristan from 23rd (evening/night) to 24th May.

Rain/wind-thunderstorm is also expected in Zhob, Ziarat, Barkhan, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, D G Khan, Rajanpur, Multan, Bhakkar, Layyah and D.I.Khan on 24th May.

There is also a possibility of hailstorms and intense showers, and the public has been advised to take precautionary measures.
