KARACHI: The Karachi administration has announced new traffic regulations, restricting the movement of heavy vehicles to specific hours and routes.
The measures, aimed at reducing road accidents, will remain in effect for two months, from February 14 to April 13, 2025.
According to an official notification, heavy traffic will only be allowed on designated routes and within specified hours. Section 144 has been imposed to prevent violations.

Under the new rules, heavy vehicles can operate between 11:00 pm and 6:00 am, with exceptions for those carrying essential goods such as water, edible oil, medical gases, meat, and other necessary supplies.
Additionally, three specific routes have been designated for heavy traffic movement during daytime hours in Karachi. However, dumpers carrying construction materials and mixture machines are completely banned across the city.
The Sindh government introduced these measures in response to growing public concerns over rising road accidents.
To ensure strict enforcement, Pir Muhammad Shah has been appointed as the new Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Traffic Karachi.
Authorities have urged transporters to comply with the new directives to avoid legal action and contribute to smoother traffic flow and public safety in the city.
