Riyadh diplomacy: PM explores bilateral ties with Gulf partners


PM Shehbaz engaged in discussions with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, with a focus on investment in Pakistan's energy sector.

RIYADH: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif engaged in discussions with Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in Riyadh on Monday, with a focus on economy and investment in Pakistan’s energy sector.

During the meeting, the two leaders discussed a range of topics concerning the bilateral relations between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. Particular focus was placed on mutual interests and cooperation across different sectors between the two countries.

Similarly, Shehbaz met with the kingdom’s Energy Minister Abdulaziz bin Salman, where Pakistan’s initiatives to attract investment in the energy sector was brought up. The focus remained on enhancing cooperation in the energy sector between the two countries.

The Saudi energy minister recognised the important role Pakistanis played in Saudi Arabia’s development. He also expressed interest in Pakistan’s energy projects.

The Saudi Ministers for Economy and Environment also met up with the PM. The discussion between the three leaders centered on the potential for both countries to contribute significantly to regional food security. The ministers in particular showed interest in Pakistan’s agriculture sector.

PM meets Emir of Kuwait

Meanwhile, the Prime Minister also met up with the Emir of Kuwait Mishal Al-Ahmad. The discussion between Shehbaz and the Kuwaiti emir focused on areas of mutual cooperation and interests, especially in the economic and energy sectors.

During the meeting, Shehbaz also extended an invitation to the Emir of Kuwait to visit Pakistan.
