Four injured in two separate bank heist attempts in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: Four people have been injured including a security guard in two separate bank heist attempts in Islamabad in a single day.

According to the police in the first incident, robbers attempted to loot a bank cash van near the I-9 police station in Islamabad on Monday, resulting in gunfire that left a security guard injured.

According to the police, masked robbers on a motorbike attempted to steal cash from an armored car and started firing.

The guard returned fire, forcing the robbers to flee the scene.

The injured guard was shifted to a hospital for treatment, police added.

Man arrested for killing brother-in-law

In a separate incident, three people were injured when masked robbers attempted to loot a private bank in sector G-15 of Islamabad.

Robbers and the bank guard exchanged firing for ten minutes as a result three people were injured.

As a result of continuous firing the robbers manage to flee from the site and attempt for a bank heist in Islamabad was foiled.

The injured have been shifted to the hospital, according to the police.

Despite the Police formation of specialized crime control teams to combat incidents of robbery, snatching, and theft the incidents of theft and robberies are rising. Citizens of Islamabad have expressed grave concern over the rising crime rate in an otherwise much peaceful city and have urged the law enforces to tighten their grip around criminals.

The DIG emphasized that the performance of these teams will be monitored daily, with strict action promised against any negligent officers. The initiative aims to enhance public safety and curb rising crime rates in the capital.
