Robbery on Babusar Road claims life of university teacher

ISLAMABAD: Tragedy struck on Babusar Road as Professor Haji Rashid, a resident of Punjab, was shot and killed by armed men during a robbery.
The incident unfolded while Prof Haji Rashid, along with his colleagues, was en route to a leisure trip during the course of his journey.
According to media reports, Rashid was an assistant professor at Karakoram University Baltistan campus.
According to initial reports, the culprits had placed boulders on the road as part of a calculated plan to halt vehicles and carry out a series of robberies. As the victim and his colleagues spotted the robbers, they swiftly executed a U-turn before they were fired upon by the robbers.
Prof Rashid died on the spot while the robbers fled the scene, locals said.
Local residents said that the region had been experiencing a string of similar incidents involving the robbery of vehicles for an extended period.
The area in question lies in close proximity to the boundary between Mansehra and Gilgit, often referred to as the Mānsehra-Gilgit boundary.
The tragic incident highlights the urgency for enhanced security measures and vigilance in regions frequented by travelers, especially in areas that have witnessed recurrent criminal activity.
