‘Rs2b allocated for health issuance of journalists, artists’

ISLAMABAD: Information Minsiter Marriyum Aurangzeb on Thursday said that Rs2 billion have been allocated for the health insurance of journalists and artists.
Speaking at the signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and the State Life Insurance Corporation for the health insurance of journalists and artists, she credited Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for the initiative, terming it ‘historic’.
She said that the prime minister had issued directives that the money allocated in the budget for journalists and artists should not be limited to announcements only but practical steps should be taken on this regard.

She said that the premier will issue health insurance cards to journalists and artists on August 7.
The minister said that various surgeries including renal surgery, heart surgery and cardiac surgery including indoor and outdoor medical facilities were covered under the health insurance scheme while ambulance service would also be provided under this card.
Journalists and media workers across the country can get themselves registered by downloading the form from the Press Information Department website.
