Russian election observers commend Pakistan’s electoral preparations

ISLAMABAD: An eight-member delegation of Russian election observers arrived in Pakistan on Tuesday to engage with officials from the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).
Led by Chairman Andrey Maximov, the group was warmly received by ECP Secretary Dr Asif Hussain in Islamabad. The secretary provided the delegation with a comprehensive briefing on the thorough preparations undertaken by the election body for the upcoming general election scheduled for February 8.
During their visit, the Russian observers had the opportunity to tour Election City and the Monitoring Control Center, two vital facilities established to oversee security during the election day.

Previously, the Commonwealth Observers Group visited Pakistan on Monday. The election observers met with ECP’s Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sikandar Sultan Raja, who briefed them on preparations Pakistan has taken in preparing for the upcoming election.
The Chairman of the Commonwealth Observers Group Dr Goodluck Jonathan commended the ECP’s meticulous preparations and thanked the election body for facilitating the visit.
