Safety from kite strings: ‘Mehfuz Punjab’ initiative launched


Lahore: Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif unveiled the ‘Mehfuz Punjab’ initiative on Wednesday, aiming to safeguard citizens from the hazards of kite strings amidst a surge in kite flying incidents.

The Chief Minister inaugurated the safety guard campaign at the Abshar Khidmat Center, emphasizing the importance of installing safety guards.

She directed the traffic police to ensure the enforcement of safety guard installation. Furthermore, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif ordered the distribution of safety wire guards to citizens for their protection.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif said that a crackdown is currently in progress against individuals engaged in the manufacturing, purchasing, and selling of kites, as well as those utilizing metal strings.

Earlier this month, Maryam Nawaz Sharif took serious cognizance of the incidents involving kite flying and string-related injuries occurring in various cities of Punjab, such as Sheikhupura, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, and Faisalabad.
