Sajid Sadpara scales Dhaulagiri without supplementary oxygen

GILGIT: Renowned Pakistani climber Sajid Ali Sadpara has summited Dhaulagiri, the world’s seventh highest peak in Nepal without oxygen and porter support.

He was part of the 13-member team of rope fixer from Nepalese tour operator, Seven Summit Tracks (SST), which reached the top of 8,167-meter high peak on Saturday morning.

“We are proud to announce that a rope-fixing team led by Lakpa Sherpa, also known as Makalu Lakpa, successfully reached the summit of Mt. Dhaulagiri (8,167m),” the company announced in a social media team.

The SST said the expedition team, had previously fixed ropes up to 8,050 meters and launched their final summit push during a favorable weather window.

“A total of six climbers and seven Sherpa guides successfully reached the summit starting at 9:35 AM, marking the first confirmed ascent of Mt. Dhaulagiri in the Spring 2025 season,” the SST add.

The tour company congratulated to all the climbers and the dedicated Sherpa team for their strength and coordination.

Alpine Club of Pakistan Secretary Karrar Haidri said Sajid Ali Sadpara summited the mountain “without supplemental oxygen and completely unsupported”.

“A truly proud and historic moment for Pakistan and the global mountaineering community,” Haidri added.
