Salman Khan's Sikandar a flop at the Box office

WEB DESK: Bollywood superstar Salman Khan’s action-packed film ‘Sikandar’ failed to achieve the box office success that fans had anticipated.

Salman Khan starrer was one of the highly anticipated movies of 2025 and the biggest release of March, which didn’t see any Bollywood release except John Abraham’s The Diplomat. However, despite the hype, the film miserably failed to impress the critics and the audience.

According to Indian media, the film, starring Salman Khan and Rashmika Mandanna, hit cinemas but could only earn ₹26 crore on its opening day, which was disappointing for filmmakers and analysts.

The Hindi version of the film had an average seat occupancy of 23.47 per cent, which is considered unusually low despite extensive promotions.

‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ confirmed, filming to begin this summer

Renowned critic Taran Adarsh gave the film only two stars, while Komal Nahta stated that the film’s online leak had already affected its earnings.

Released as Salman Khan’s ‘big Eid gift’, ‘Sikandar’ lagged behind other recent films.

Vicky Kaushal’s ‘Chhava’ earned ₹31 crore on its first day, ₹5 crore more than ‘Sikandar’. Similarly, Salman’s previous blockbuster ‘Tiger Zinda Hai’ had an opening day collection of ₹33 crore, a milestone ‘Sikandar’ failed to surpass.

Despite AR Murugadoss’s reputation for making gripping stories like Ghajini, this action thriller was highly disappointing, with uninspiring performances.

Analysts say the film’s disappointing performance has surprised both fans and the industry.

Apart from Salman, the movie also stars Rashmika Mandanna ,  Sathyaraj, Kajal Aggarwal, Sharman Joshi and Prateik Babbar in pivotal roles.
