Constitutional Bench

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court convened on Monday to address a series of intra-court appeals challenging its unanimous decision on October 23, which invalidated the military trials of civilians.

During the session, the court sought specific information regarding the military trials of civilians accused of participating in the violent incidents of May 9.

A six-member bench, chaired by Justice Aminuddin Khan and comprising Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar, Justice Syed Azhar Hasan Rizvi, Justice Shahid Waheed, Justice Musarrat Hilali, and Justice Irfan Saadat Khan, presided over the hearings.

“Out of 103 people, how many people are acquitted, how many people are innocent?” the court asked the Attorney General for Pakistan, Mansoor Usman Awan.

Justice Khan inquired from Awan whether any of the accused individuals had been granted release or were eligible for release.

In response to the Supreme Court judge’s query, the Attorney General of Pakistan (AGP) stated that while the trial proceedings had concluded, the verdicts had not yet been declared.
