ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan (SCP) is set to consider the appeal against the execution of former president Pervez Musharraf and other cases related to high treason today, led by a divisional bench headed by Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa.
Additionally, the court will address three separate appeals challenging the Lahore High Court’s (LHC) decision that deemed the constitution of the special court unconstitutional. The hearing for placing Pervez Musharraf’s name in the Exit Control List (ECL) is also scheduled for today, with notices issued to all parties and lawyers by the Registrar’s Office.

It’s worth noting that all these cases, including the appeal against the annulment of the sentence of the late former President and Chief of Army Staff Pervez Musharraf, are being heard in the Supreme Court, marking nine months since his passing on February 5 in Dubai.
Pervez Musharraf was sentenced to death in absentia by a special court in December 2019 in the high treason case. However, the Lahore High Court (LHC) later declared the establishment of the special court unconstitutional. The Pakistan Bar Council, Sindh Bar Council, and Advocate Tawfiq Asif have filed appeals against this decision of the Lahore High Court.
