Scorching heat: Temperatures to cross 40°C in Punjab, Sindh

ISLAMABAD: Most parts of the country are experiencing intense heat, with temperatures expected to cross 40°C in Punjab and Sindh.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), temperatures will remain 3 to 7 degrees Celsius above normal.
In Murree, the temperature may reach 26°C, Islamabad 39°C, and Karachi 37°C.
In Dera Ismail Khan, Sargodha, and Dera Ghazi Khan, the mercury could hit 44°C. Peshawar and Bannu are expected to record 41°C, while Multan, Lahore, Jhelum, and Sahiwal could see highs of 43°C.

Sukkur and Mithi are likely to touch 46°C, Turbat 47°C, and Sibi may experience a scorching 48°C.
During the last days of April, heat intensity is expected to increase, particularly in southern areas. Sindh and Balochistan are likely to witness temperatures 5 to 7 degrees above normal during the daytime.
Southern Punjab will also face a surge in heat levels, while dry and hot weather will prevail across most parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, said the Met Office.
Islamabad and its surrounding areas will remain hot and dry. Meanwhile, Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir are also expected to experience warm and dry weather.
The PMD has advised citizens to take precautionary measures to protect themselves from the heatwave.
