Section 144 enforced in Karachi’s red zone on first session of Sindh Assembly

KARACHI: The Sindh Home Department announced enforcement of section 144 in the red zone of Karachi in early hours of Saturday, ahead of the first session of the Provincial Assembly of Sindh.

The decision was made at the request of the Inspector-General of Sindh Police, with the aim of maintaining law and order during the provincial assembly meeting.

Under section 144, strict restrictions are imposed on public gatherings and movement in a designated area. Any violation of these restrictions will result in legal action being taken by the concerned station house officer (SHO).

Earlier, on Friday the Provincial Assembly of Sindh announced its inaugural session to be held on Saturday (today), during which newly elected members are expected to be sworn in.
