ISLAMABAD: At least 47 terrorists belonging to Fitna al-Khawarij — Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) — were killed as they tried to cross into Pakistan from Afghanistan from different points, security sources said.
According to the sources, security forces carried out these operations on the basis of effective intelligence to foil the intrusion attempt in Balochistan between August 7 and 9.
Most of these dead TTP terrorists were Afghans, they said and added that most of the bodies fell on the other side of the border.
The botched cross-border intrusion attempt was made in the Sambaza area of Zhob district.
Moreover, no one tried to retrieve the bodies even after 15 days, the sources, showing that their associates are afraid of being hit by the Pakistani security forces.
Separately, the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) and police killed nine TTP terrorists in a joint targeted operation in Upper Dir, the district police chief said.
Afghanistan has become a hotbed of terrorists of all forms and manifestations since the Kabul takeover by the Taliban.
