Security forces kill 30 terrorists in KP operations: ISPR

RAWALPINDI: Security forces conducted multiple operations across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, killing 30 militants and seizing weapons and ammunition, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement on Saturday.

According to the statement, an intelligence-based operation was conducted by security forces in Lakki Marwat district on reported presence of Khawarij.

“During the conduct of operation, own troops effectively engaged the Khwarij location and resultantly, eighteen Khawarij were killed, while six Khwarij got injured,” the statement read.

Another eight Khawarij were killed by the security forces in an intelligence-based operation in Karak district.

In a third encounter that took place in general area of Bagh, in Khyber district. “Own troops killed four Khawarij, including Khawarij ring leaders Aziz-ur-Rehman alias Qari Ismail and Kharji Mukhlis, while two khawarij got injured.”

Weapons and ammunition were also recovered from the killed Khawarij, who remained actively involved in numerous terrorist activities in the area against the security forces as well as killing of innocent civilians.

The ISPR said sanitization operations are being conducted to eliminate any other Khawariji found in the area as the security forces of Pakistan are determined to wipe out the menace of terrorism from the country. 

President, PM commends security forces

President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif commended the security forces for the successful operations against Khawarij in KP.

In their separate messages, they praised the bravery and professionalism of the security forces for killing four Khawarij, including their ringleaders.

They stated that the entire nation stands with the security forces in the war against terrorism and expressed their resolve to thwart the nefarious designs of the Fitna al-Khawarij to spread chaos and insecurity in the country.

Both leaders reiterated their commitment to continue the fight against the menace of terrorism until it is completely eradicated from the country.
