Security forces kill five militants in KP operations

WEB DESK: Security forces killed five militants, including a high-value target, and arrested two others in three separate intelligence-based operations across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), the military’s media wing said on Saturday.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the operations targeted militant hideouts in Bajaur and Mohmand districts. In Bajaur, three militants were killed in an exchange of fire, one of whom was identified as Faridullah, a key operative. Forces also destroyed a militant hideout in Mohmand and recovered weapons, ammunition, and explosives.

President Asif Ali Zardari commended the security forces for their successful operations, praising their bravery in neutralizing the militants. “Security forces will continue operations until complete eradication of terrorist elements,” he said in a statement issued by the Presidency. The president termed the elimination of the group’s ringleader a significant achievement and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to national security. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also lauded the efforts of the forces.

The operations come amid intensified counter-terrorism efforts in KP province following recent attacks.
