Inmates break out of Bahawalnagar prison

BAHAWALNAGAR: In a major security lapse, seven suspects escaped from a jail in Bahawalnagar, Punjab, prompting a police operation to recapture them.

According to a police spokesperson, three of the fugitives were caught after a chase, while efforts continue to locate the remaining four.

Reports suggest that the suspects attacked a constable on duty during their escape. The spokesperson added that the inmates were being held in the CIA police lockup for questioning in multiple criminal cases.

Authorities have announced that disciplinary action will be taken against the officers of Bahawalnagar jail, found to be negligent in the incident.

FOUR SUSPECTS KILLED IN POLICE ENCOUNTER

Four suspects were killed in a police encounter near the Southern Bypass in Bahawalpur, a police spokesperson confirmed.

According to the spokesperson, the suspects were being taken for evidence recovery when their accomplices opened fire on the police.

The police further stated that all four suspects were killed by the bullets fired by their own associates.
