Senator Aon Abbas Buppi taken into custody, Senate told

ISLAMABAD: Senator Aon Abbas Buppi, a senator belonging to the Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaaf (PTI), has been taken into custody from his home today, the senate was informed.
Senate began its session at the Parliament House in Islamabad on Thursday with Deputy Chairman Syedaal Khan Nasar in the chair.
At the outset of the session, the House offered fateha for those martyred in recent acts of terrorism in the country.
Senator Shibli Faraz speaking on the floor of the upper house informed that Senator Aon Abbas Buppi was picked up from his home at 8:00 am today against proper procedure.
“We condemn the government’s high-handedness against the opposition. We are being pinned to the wall”, Shibli Faraz said.

Even Chairman Senate was not informed of the arrest. The Law minister should tell us the reason behind the arrest he said.
The house should take steps to keep its sanctity and honour. Production orders are issued and they are not implemented, Shibli Faraz said.
Senator Manzoor Kakar speaking in the house said today it’s Aon Buppi tomorrow it will be someone else. One day will come when we will all disappear.
Some people have committed more crimes than Aon Buppi and they are roaming freely, he said.
The PTI members later boycotted the senate session in protest against the arrest of Senator Aon Abbas.
SENATE PASSES THE SPECIAL TECHNOLOGY ZONES AUTHORITY AMENDMENT BILL, 2025
The Special Technology Zones Authority Amendment Bill, 2025 was moved by Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar.
The chair also referred the Civil Courts Amendment Bill 2025 and Pakistan Coast Guards Amendment Bill, 2025 to the standing committees concerned.
The Senate was informed that the number of centers for the treatment of HIV has increased from forty-nine to ninety-four over the past four years.
Responding to a Calling Attention Notice, Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar stated that these centers are providing free screening and treatment.
The Law Minister also mentioned that awareness campaigns are being organized to effectively combat the disease.
