Senator Shibli Faraz resigns from Judicial Commission of Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: The opposition leader in the senate, Senator Shibli Faraz has also resigned from the Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP) on Wednesday.
Senator Shibli Faraz tendered his resignation due to the registration of FIRs against him and repeated court presences.
He has nominated Senator Barrister Ali Zafar to take his place in line with the directives of PTI founding chairman Imran Khan.
Shibli Faraz has sent his resignation to the Chairman Senate.
Omar Ayub resigns from Judicial Commission of Pakistan
Earlier Omar Ayub, who is the Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly, tendered his resignation to the National Assembly Speaker on Tuesday.
According to his resignation letter, a copy of which is available with HUM News English, Omar Ayub has nominated MNA Barrister Gohar Ali Khan to succeed him in the commission.
The Judicial Commission of Pakistan was established under the 26th Constitutional Amendment, which officially became an act of Parliament with the approval of President Asif Ali Zardari on October 21.
The body is led by the Chief Justice of Pakistan and comprises two senators, two MNAs, three senior Supreme Court judges, the senior-most constitutional bench judge, the federal law minister, the attorney general, and a lawyer with at least 15 years of Supreme Court experience, nominated by the Pakistan Bar Council for a two-year term.
On October 28, PTI decided to formally become part of the commission.
