ISLAMABAD: Senior journalist Mazhar Iqbal passed away on Tuesday in a road accident, his family confirmed. The Namaz-e-Jinaza will be held today at Humak Town, Islamabad after Asr prayers.
The tragic news has been widely condoled across the media and official circles.
Federal Secretary Information and Broadcasting Ambreen Jan and Principal Information Officer (PIO) Mobashir Hassan expressed deep grief over his demise. They extended heartfelt condolences and sympathy to the bereaved family.
Ambreen Jan said Mazhar Iqbal was a principled, courageous and seasoned journalist who always upheld professional values.

Mobashir Hassan described him as a “reliable reference in the field of journalism,” adding that his death marked the loss of an experienced and dignified personality for the media industry.
Senior Minister Maryam Aurangzeb also expressed sorrow over the loss. She said she was deeply saddened by the passing of Mazhar Iqbal, noting that the intensity with which he asked questions was his hallmark, coupled with his sincere commitment to the welfare of journalists and ordinary citizens.
She added that his contributions to journalism would be remembered for a long time.
