Seven family members killed in Haripur accident

HARIPUR: At least seven members of the same family were killed and 10 other were critically wounded when a van fell into a deep ravine in Haripur in the wee hours of Thursday.

The ill-fated family, after attending a marriage ceremony, was on its way to Islamabad airport from Swabi Meera area. The van carrying 15 passengers of the same family fell into a gorge while taking a sharp turn as a result seven people died on the spot and injuring 10 others.

The authorities have stated that the injured have been shifted to the Haripur Trauma Center, who are stated to be in critical condition.

Rescue teams reached the site immediately after the accident, but they faced difficulties in providing relief efforts due to heavy rainfall.
