Severe heatwave to grip plains, some thunderstorms expected in north

WEB DESK: Most of the plains of the country will remain under the influence of severe heat wave on Friday. However, there is a possibility of rain with thundershowers at a few places in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pothohar region, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir.

On Friday, the weather will be very hot in Islamabad and surrounding areas during day time. Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) predicts the temperature of the day to likely be 4-6 degrees Celsius higher than normal. However, apart from some partly cloudy conditions forecasted for the day, there is also a change of gusty winds and thundershowers.

Moving towards Punjab, PMD predicts that on Friday the weather will remain extremely hot in most of the districts of the province. During this time, the temperature is likely to be 6-8 degrees Celsius higher than normal. However, there may be rain at few places in Pothohar, Murree, Galiyat and surrounding areas, with thunderstorm and thundershowers likely at a few of these places.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the weather will remain extremely hot in most of the plain districts of the province on Friday. The temperature is likely to be 4-6 degrees Celsius higher than normal here as well. However, PMD said that there is a chance of windstorm and thunderstorm in some parts of the province.

The weather will remain very hot in most districts of the Sindh province on Friday. The coastal areas will remain hot and humid with the daytime temperature in the upper districts to be 6-8 degrees Celsius higher than normal.

Likewise, in Balochistan, Friday will bring hot weather for most of the districts of the province. During this time, the temperature of the day is likely to be 4-6 degrees Celsius higher than normal.

In Kashmir, however, PMD predicts cloudy weather, with strong winds and thundershowers on Friday. Gilgit-Baltistan, too, will remain cloudy with the possibility of rain with strong winds and thunder at a few places.
